Meet the team
We're a family run business
And we’re changing things up
After years of generating profit for wealthy stakeholders, we decided enough is enough. We’re done with corporate thinking. We’re done with insurance brokers throwing random products at businesses they don’t need for the sake of generating a higher commission. We’re done with scaremongering.
We wanted to build our business with better ethics, values and procedures. And thus, Morgan Betts & Co was born.
Joseph started his insurance career in 1999 for a personal lines call centre in general inbound sales. Following this, Joseph went on to work in underwriting for Norwich Union where he gained a good grounding education on the process of commercial insurance underwriting. Here, skills in relationship management were gained from relationship building with a dedicated panel of brokers. This identified the path that was attractive and into brokering via James Ryan Thornhill in Nottinghamshire he went. From there gaining experience as an account handler, Joseph took an active lead in sales development and upselling. Eventually outgrowing the role, Joseph was headhunted by Towergate Risk Solutions where he worked for the following 3 years before moving to Shire Insurance in Tamworth. Here he gained knowledge of introducer relationships via the Shire Leasing connection. After relocating to Cornwall, Joseph took a role with the Schemes and Affinities team for Jelf, eventually working up to Senior Account Executive. Positions as Account Director at Colmore Insurance Brokers, Business Development Manager for the Bluefin Network and finally Account Director for Konsileo have followed.
Rachael’s first role in the insurance industry was in 1997 working for a small independent brokerage making outbound sales calls to private individuals. Targets were based around reviewing their policy and closing the sale within 1 to 3 points of contact. Rachael then moved into a full-time role at an inbound call centre, first dealing with new business enquiries, then moving on to managing renewals, as well as being one of only 2 points of contact within the centre, responsible for liaising with underwriters directly to agree terms for distressed and non-standard risks both at new business and renewal stage. Rachael continued to move into account management and non-standard referral roles before joining what was Oval Insurance Broking in 2007 as an account manager on their Private Clients team. By 2009 Rachael was managing the Private Clients Team, and working alongside the Corporate Account Executives, Development. Rachael has continued to work successfully in a Field-Based Regional Sales Role both in the Commercial Vehicle Conversion and Accident Management Industry and will be looking to combine this with her insurance experience as part of the Morgan Betts Team.
